Part Numbers for Jule Precast Gels

Since there is a wide selection of gels, please follow the 7 steps below to create a catalog number for the Gels you need.

 Call us at 1-800-648-1772 for assistance.

Here is a sample part number:  12D15HMC10P
Step 1. Select Acrylamide Concentration:  We will pour almost any single concentration or gradient concentration gel.
                         i.e. 12 = 12% single concentration  (Specify any single concentration). Single concentration gels are provided with a 4% stacking gel layered on top of the resolving gel, except for gels with catalog designation C1G or C2G
                                420 = 4%-20% gradient (Pick any gradient you need).
 Not sure what percent acrylamide gel to choose?

Step 2. Select the Gel Type:  (learn more about buffer systems)
                          D = Tris-Glycine Gels with SDS, (Gel buffer is: 0.375M Tris-HCl, pH 8.8, .1% SDS)
                          W = Tris-Glycine Gels without SDS (Gel buffer is: 0.375M Tris-HCl, pH 8.8)
                          N = Tris-Borate-EDTA (TBE), (Gel Buffer is: 0.090M Tris, 0.080M Boric Acid, pH 8.3, 0.0026M EDTA). TBE Gels do not come with a 4% stacking gel.
                          U = Urea/TBE Gels ( Same as N Gels, with 7 molar Urea added). TBE/Urea Gels do not come with a 4% stacking gel.
                          T = Tris-Tricine Gels (ideal for low molecular weight 2 - 60 kilo-Daltons), (Gel Buffer is: 1.0M Tris-HCl, pH 8.45, 0.1% SDS).

Step 3. Select Gel Thickness:
                          75 = 0.75 mm thick

                  15 = 1.50 mm thick
                          10 = 1.00 mm thick (available for Ettan Dalt large "EL", "HL", "BL", and "BXL" style cassettes. only).

                         VOTE:   We are considering making mini gels in a 1.0 mm thickness.  Please send us an email if you prefer 1.00 mm thick mini gels.  Service@precastgels.com    Simply type 1 mm Gels in the subject line or leave more information and we can contact you when they are available.  Thank you!

Step 4. Select your Running Apparatus:
                      MINI GELS:
                          HM = Amersham (Hoefer) Mighty Small, SE250, SE260, SE280,
                                  Thermo EC120, Fisher Biotech FB VE10-1, or Owl Penguin P8DS
                   M or NM = (Universal Cassette) Novex/Invitrogen XCell I, II, and Surelock, BioRad Mini Protean 3
                           CBS models MGV-302 and 402, Sigma Aldrich E5889 Vertical Unit, the ISS/Enproteck/Own (runs one gel at a time).
                          BM = Bio-Rad Mini Protean II (but not Bio-Rad Mini Protean 3, see NM).

 LARGE SIZE GELS:
                          HL = Amersham (Hoefer) SE400, SE600, SE650, SE700 (Standard gel width is 14 cm).
                          BL = Bio-Rad Protean II and IIxi, Owl P10DS-1,-2,-3 (Owl requires sponge tips, ST-10).  (Standard Gel width is 16 cm.  An 18 cm wide gel can be obtained by requesting 1.0 cm wide spacers. Cassettes dimensions: front plate 16cm tall x 20 cm wide and back plate 18.3 cm tall by 20 cm wide.)

                           BXL = Bio-Rad Protean IIxi (20 cm), and XL (20 cm) and Dodeca units.  (An 18 cm wide gel is obtained using 1.0 cm wide spacers. Cassette dimensions: Front plate 20cm tall x 20 cm wide, back plate 22.3 cm tall x 20 cm wide.) Available in regular and low fluorescence glass.
                          EL = Ettan Dalt Six and Twelve Large Vertical System, the BioRad Protean Plus, Hoefer SE900, Iso Dalt System (must request enlarged spacer for running in the Iso Dalt System-call Jule, Inc.). These (EL) are made with low fluorescence glass.  Gel width is 25.5 cm wide.  Cassette dimensions: 21.7 cm tall x 27.6 cm wide.  Please remember to specify in words along with your catalog number whether or not you would like Bind Silane, Repel Silane, and 2 Spot Picker Reference Markers and whether to apply the Bind Silane to the short or tall glass plates. Or specify No Bind, No Repel and No Markers, for example.

Step 5. Identify the Number of Sample Wells you want:

                         C10 = 10 wells
                         C15 = 15 wells
                         C1 = 1 well.  The resolving gel is poured 1cm from the top (.5cm from the top for mini gels) to create a flat top for prep and 2D work (see 2D gels) .  The C1 designation does not include a stacking gel.  If a stacking gel is desired, you must specify it.
                         C2 = Same as C1 except there is also a reference well at one end
. Available on "HL", "BL","BXL", and "EL" for all gel thicknesses (.75mm, 1.00 mm and 1.50 mm thickness). Effective October 10, 2008 the price for a sample well is $2.00 per gel for gels in glass cassettes.  Available on mini gels with designation "HM", "BM", "NM" in 1.5mm gel thickness only size Gels (no extra charge) The C2 designation does not include a stacking gel.  If a stacking gel is desired, you must specify it.

                         C0 = no sample wells (mini gels poured 1.5 cm from top, large gels poured 3.5 cm from top)

Step 6. Select a Plastic or Glass Cassette for your gels:
                         P = Plastic Cassette (available for 'HM', 'BM', 'NM' styles)
                         G = Glass Cassette (all large gels use glass cassettes.)

                         GLF=low fluorescence glass (available for "EL", "HL", "BL" and "BXL"). "EL" are made with Low fluorescence glass.  "HL" and "BL" can be made with regular glass "G" or low fluorescence glass "GLF".

Step 7.  Order Online
           Copy your entries from steps 1-6 (in that order) into the field above
           This is your part number. For special requests include a note with your order. Ettan Dalt users must specify Options in words along with catalog number. Any additional instructions must be specified in words .
