Large Gels for GE Healthcare (formerly Hoefer-Amersham-Pharmacia) Apparatuses.
The large size gel cassette above fits:
GE
Healthcare (formerly Hoefer-Amersham-Pharmacia):
SE400, SE600, Ruby SE600, SE650, SE660 and SE700 (16 x 18cm glass plates).
These cassettes are available in regular or low fluorescence
glass plates.
BioRad Protean II
and IIxi, Owl Emperor Penguin #P10DS-1,-2,-3 (18.3 x 20cm back plate and 16 x 20cm front plates).
Note: Owl users need Sponge Tips #ST-10 (available from Owl) to seal
cassette at top.
Available in regular or low fluorescence glass plates.
New! 20cm x 20 cm cassette.
There are now two cassette sizes available for the BioRad Protean IIxi (see above photo). The taller cassettes ("BXL" designation in catalog number) is a nomimal 20cm tall x 20cm wide. The shorter cassette ("BL" designation) is the nominal 16 cm tall x 20 cm wide.
ACRYLAMIDE CONCENTRATIONS:
Any single concentration and many gradients are available.
GEL TYPES
(buffer systems):
Denaturing Gels (Tris-Glycine) are prepared in: .375M Tris-HCl, pH 8.8, 0.1%
SDS
Non-Denaturing Gels (Tris-Glycine) are prepared in: .375M Tris HCl, pH 8.8. (no SDS).
Non-Denaturing, for Proteins, DNA, RNA (double stranded) (TBE) are prepared in: .090M Tris, .080M Boric Acid, ph 8.3, 0.0026M
EDTA
TBE-Urea Gels: TBE buffer with Urea (7 molar unless otherwise
specified)
Tricine Gels (Tris-Tricine) for low molecular weight separations.
GEL THICKNESS:
0.75mm, 1.0mm, or 1.50mm
(1.0 mm thick gels are provided with a flat top for 2D work
only).
SAMPLE WELLS:
10 wells, 15 wells, No sample wells (3.5 cm cavity, so you
can poor your own stacking gel), one reference well and one large
well (see 2D Gels. Gel is poured within 1.0 cm from top of front plate).
SHELF LIFE: Two months.
