How the Jule Gradient Formers work in automatic pumping mode:
The Jule Gradient Former can be automatically operated by connecting it to a peristaltic pump.

Step 1: Remove pistons.

Step 2. Fill each cylinder with fluids to be mixed.

Step 3: Insert pistons, start magnetic stirrer and pump.

As the pump draws liquid out of the Gradient Former, a vacuum is created within the Gradient Former and the  dual pistons follow the liquid downward, keeping the fluid levels equal in each cylinder.  By keeping the fluid levels equal in each chamber a near perfect linear gradient is formed.  Unlike gravity flow type gradient formers, air bubbles cannot stop the flow.
